Purchased from previous Yorkton Welding & Machine owners in November, 1983, Jerry Holowatuik and Bruce Cmoc set out to make the small welding and machine shop their full-time career. Thus, Yorkton Welding & Machine (1983) Ltd. was created in Yorkton, located in the east-central part of Saskatchewan, Canada.
As larger jobs were undertaken and with a goal of expanding their customer base in mind, the pair expanded their business, ultimately building a custom-designed facility. After renting their York Road East location for many years, they purchased the lot immediately across an alleyway, home to a former meat packing plant, and demolished the remaining structures.
They opened the doors of the new location, with equipment, stock and product, right next door to their old location, at 140 York Road East on January 23, 2000. The building is even home to a ten-tonne overhead indoor crane which assists with large projects and a collection of in-stock, sought-after trailer parts.
Increases in staff levels, mobile welding units and lathes over the years are indicative of Yorkton Welding & Machine’s increased demand for quality service and a valued, growing customer base.
The strong partnership and friendship between Jerry and Bruce set the foundation for a successful business from the very beginning. They thank their many clients across the agriculture, industrial, manufacturing, commercial and private sectors for their years of continued patronage.
